Over the last two weeks I have been working on another full-length featured novel. "Awakening" is a tale of passion, purity and the dangers of forbidden love in nineteen century England. Below is a short extract to showcase the overall arching theme to my latest project, Awakening. Mr. Riley looked over his shoulder to ensure his wife wasn’t around before he uttered: “Do you still take that path home, Miss. Miller?” He settled his son down on the floor and instructed him to play with uncle for a few minutes. “I have not had the pleasure of waiting in that secret little place.” “I have noticed.” “So, that means that you still go there,” He realized with a sudden glow to his features. “I understand now.” “But not to meet you, sir,” I clarified out rightly. “So, the bird sings,” he answered me. “But I know that song all too well.” “Sir?” He merely winked at me, and then pushed himself off the couch with renewed energy. “Let us go to the dining room. My wife will be there shortly.” He abandoned the room at once, leaving me with a disquieting feeling and an uneasy composure that Mr. Summers would notice the second he laid eyes on me.
