I have always found that Sara is the most misunderstood character. I suppose the reason is some people find it very difficult to like her. Sara has her faults. She is self-centred, stubborn, and incredibly naive when it comes to recognizing red flags. She does not go about the world in rose coloured glasses, but she does have an awful habit of turning a blind eye to red flags. All the same, I believe it is Sara's faults that makes her a truly relatable and believable character.
In her early twenties, Sara desires to get out of the bustling city and head into the wilderness with her friends for Halloween weekend. She convinces her best friend, Ashley, to come with her, and in turn her two other guy friends, Ben and Taylor, that just so happens to be in a long term relationship. Ecstatic to have a long weekend out in the wild, Sara is determined to not abandon her plans once she arrives at Blackthorn campground. The lone tenant does everything in his power to shoo the young folks away, but they have a will of iron and are determined to stay a couple of nights there. The tenant, Damian, reluctantly agrees if they give their word that they will not go outdoors at night. It is from this point on that the plot truly thickens. The tenant has an eye for Sara, and she for him. As the sexual chemistry increases, it is only a matter of time until one of them gives into their desires. In terms of the inspiration I had for Sara, I wanted her to be very bold and know her own mind. She senses Damian's mutual attraction, and unexpectedly makes the first move in their relationship. Sara is a go-getter, she is not the kind of person to wait around for the man to ask her out on a date. Sara is also very sexually driven, and I think that is the reason she is so easy-going and willing to have a one-night stand with Damian. Still, she does subconsciously acknowledge that there is something strange about Damian. She is aware that things aren't exactly adding up when Damian tells her one thing, but does another. Is he a habitable liar? One would think so, especially when the reader adds up the clues and realizes Damian is subtly telling Sara half truths. So, what is he really hiding from her? Why does he not want the city folks to go out at night? And why does he have a trunk full of guns and hunting knifes? What could he possibly be afraid of? Or should they be afraid of him? To figure out the truth you will have to read "Cursed." Happy reading everyone!
